The  painting  Steve is based on perceptual design classes I had at The Kansas City Art Institute. The class explored the relationships between line, point and shape based on the teaching of Armin Hoffman the founder of Swiss Design. Steve Holler was the best designer in my class and he could knock out these perceptual design assignments waster band better than any one. This painting features the first laboratory created pigment, YInMn. It was created accidentally in 2009 by chemists at Oregon State University. Blue pigments date back 6,000 years have been toxic and prone to fading.YInMn reflects heat and absorbs UV radiation making it cooler and more durable than cobalt blue. The strong blue color has been lightened with white to soften it to create the shark triangle.
